Feather of Icarus.

The Greek myth, presented in a different light. This sword was inspired by a song of the same name, written by one of my all time favorite bands. When creating this piece I wanted to delve deeper into the Bronze Age while keeping the blade design one of the Oakeshott types.

This longsword features a few damascus patterns to symbolize a feather incinerating. The patterns involved in this process:

Feather wrapped in Firestorm, with a wraparound edge of another flame-like Crushed W pattern.

Materials:

  • 1075/15n20 HCS

  • Mild Steel Guard & Pommel (Brassed)

  • Fluted Brass Spacers

  • Carved Holly Handles

  • Carved Curly Maple Scabbard

  • Brass Throat and Chape

  • Bronze Buckles

  • Tooled Leather Suspension Kit

  • POB: 3.25” above Guard

  • POP: 11.35” from Tip
